The Regency of Mentawai Island has Tua Pejat ( Sipora ) as it a capital, located about 135 km from Padang. And can be accessed by sea in about 10 hours. Lover of  natures won't be dissapointed by a trip to the regency of Mentawai Islands a small archipelago off the coast of West Sumatera consisting of the island of Siberut,Sipora,North Pagai,South Pagai of those islands, Siberut Island is perhaps the most remarkable.
Its vast nature reserve, Siberut National Park, home to a wide range of native flore and fauna, is one of the most impressive in indonesia.

The indigenious tribal inhabitants of Siberut Mentawai people are welcoming to visitors. Cut off from mainland Minangkabau culture, they developed an animistic, simple way of  life deeply connected to the rhytms of nature. An almost stones age existence. The Mentawaians believe that all living objects, men , plants and animals are supposed to have spirits. The only specialist in the community is the medicine man, KEREI , responsible for communication with the spirit and the souls. In case of misfortune or illness, he is called in to restore harmony within the group or in relation with the spirits in the environment. An elaborate Taboo system based on religious beliefs with respect to the environment is a dominant characteristic of traditional life on siberut.

The Mentawaian are traditionally organized as patrineal groups and the social life centered around the UMA, a communal long house which held a clan of people related through a common ancestor. The UMA vary in size. between 10 to 20 members divide in nuclear family units, referred to as LALEP. Because of internal friction, the clan might split up and form a new group might or a single family.

• DAY 01 : Leave Padang At 2 PM. To harbour. 30 Minutes by minibus. The Ferry Leaves for Siberut between 5-9 PM. overnight.

• DAY 02 : Arrive at Siberut early in the morning around 7 AM. Report in the police station. Leave for Bat Rarogot between at 8-10 PM. by speed boat take 1,5 hours. Overnight at the local house.
